The Institute is based at the University of Edinburgh with sites at the University of Manchester and the University of Southampton. It is an academic institute run for the benefit of researchers and software developers, and funded by the Engineering and Physical Research Council (EPSRC) with further funding from the Joint Information Systems Council (JISC).
