Visit The Glasgow School of Art web site and prepare to be impressed - this site is visually stunning. Charles Rennie Mackintosh sings out from every page here, with everything based on the famous architect and designer's own style. Because every page is image intensive you need powerful access tools, and this is the biggest drawback to an otherwise beautiful site.
"There is hope in honest error; none in the icy perfections of the mere stylist"
You read these words as you enter the School's site, and cannot help but marvel at the icy perfection of everything inside. However. I was heartened to find a few honest errors here and there in unfinished pages and in one untypical of the Mackintosh style. In content, the site is less extraordinary, and conforms much more to the standard fare of higher education web sites. Most of the information to be found is akin to a prospectus, or library guide, and as such is mostly static. But I greatly enjoyed exploring the exhibitions section where students' work is showcased. The section devoted to Mackintosh himself was also great fun to browse around, and in particular I was impressed with the Quicktime virtual reality view of the Mackintosh Gallery.

It is obvious that The Glasgow School of Art web site is very much a marketing tool as opposed to a support for staff or students, and therefore is rather limited in scope. However, in all, it is a delight to browse around and worth taking a look.
