The LA Web pages are a little on the disappointing side. Looking at the pages as a member I found myself left wanting more. As a directory of contacts the pages are fine, but there is little if any explanation or description of services. The pages have an underdeveloped feel about them, but no indication that they may still be under construction (are there any plans to develop them further?).
Library Association Web site.
The most developed of the pages are the listing for courses and events - but where is the information on the LA’s Continuing Professional Development Programme and information to the newly qualified on Chartership? Many of the pages are simply lists of contact names and addresses - useful, but I would like a little information about the Group, Branch or Department which I am contacting.
The LA is to be commended on setting up a site, but needs to do a lot more with it. In the area of Web publication and information, as in its other activities on behalf of the profession, the Association should be leading the way.
