This is a new construction (2002) just opposite the 1970s Boyd-Orr building, mentioned before in Ariadne's pages. The architecture of this building is quite unlike the Boyd-Orr building however, being light and airy, with more imaginative use of space: the lecture theatre in which the meeting took place is in the shape of an eye, situated at the edge of the main open space.

issue44 event report philip hunter british library california digital library cetis cnri dcc niso oclc ukoln university of bath university of edinburgh university of glasgow w3c cool uri curation data data mining database digital curation digital library digital preservation doi drm e-learning e-research e-science framework identifier interoperability learning objects metadata mp3 national library persistent identifier preservation repositories research standards uri url xml Fri, 29 Jul 2005 23:00:00 +0000 editor 1177 at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk News and Events http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue35/newsline

Ariadne presents a brief summary of news and events.

The 7th Institutional Web Management Workshop :

Supporting Our Users

[April 2003]

issue35 news and events philip hunter british library eduserv jisc jisc collections oclc open university ukoln university of kent jisc information environment archives cataloguing copyright ddc digital library dublin core e-learning e-science framework higher education lcsh mobile learning national library portal research resource discovery search technology software terminology service thesaurus web development Tue, 29 Apr 2003 23:00:00 +0000 editor 959 at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk Editorial Introduction to Issue 33: Exploring the Information Environment http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue33/editorial

Philip Hunter with the editorial for Ariadne 33.

Welcome to the September/October issue of Ariadne.

The concept of the 'Information Environment' is now one which appears often in Digital Library literature. While it is not a vague concept, it is still one which is undergoing development. Implementing an Information Environment is therefore currently a problematic exercise. Those interested in undertaking such an implementation therefore will be interested in a number of articles featured in this issue of Ariadne.

issue33 editorial philip hunter google jisc microsoft oclc sherpa university of edinburgh eevl jisc information environment sosig worldcat archives bibliographic data cataloguing content provider database digital library ebook html information architecture internet explorer interoperability learning objects metadata open access portal repositories research search technology standardisation web services xhtml xml Wed, 09 Oct 2002 23:00:00 +0000 editor 907 at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk Editorial Introduction to Issue 29: Key Technologies for the Development of the Digital Library http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue29/editorial

Philip Hunter with the editorial for Ariadne 29.

As we suggested in issue 28, we have the first detailed information on the new post of Collection Description Focus, in the form of a short article by Pete Johnston and Bridget Robinson.
