I’m having a small career break and will be indulging myself in some lie-ins, a bit of travel and a chance to find out just who are all those people wandering around the shops between 9 am and 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Held for the first time in 1999 [<a href="http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/public/present/msc2000/ebooks-msc/intro.htm#1">1</a>] it aims to provide an annual opportunity for public library web managers to share their expertise, learn from each other's experiences and keep abreast of the latest Web technology developments. The emphasis of the event is always on the practical aspects of developing and managing a public library web site.</p> <p><a href="http://live.ariadne.ac.uk/issue26/pub-libs" target="_blank">read more</a></p> issue26 event report sarah ormes ilrt ukoln university of bath university of london accessibility data database html infrastructure java javascript metadata mobile national library perl search technology software url web services wireless application profile Wed, 10 Jan 2001 00:00:00 +0000 editor 759 at http://live.ariadne.ac.uk Public Libraries: I Just Got Back from the Windy City.. http://live.ariadne.ac.uk/issue25/pub-libs <div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser-article"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><a href="/issue25/pub-libs#author1">Sarah Ormes</a> reports on the recent American Library Association conference held in Chicago.</p> </div> </div> </div> <p><a href="http://live.ariadne.ac.uk/issue25/pub-libs" target="_blank">read more</a></p> issue25 regular column sarah ormes american library association library association ukoln university of bath cataloguing ebook opac research url web services wireless Sat, 23 Sep 2000 23:00:00 +0000 editor 736 at http://live.ariadne.ac.uk Public Libraries Corner http://live.ariadne.ac.uk/issue18/pub-lib <div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser-article"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><a href="/issue18/pub-lib#author1">Sarah Ormes</a> and <a href="/issue18/pub-lib#author2">David Potts</a> shed light on the what exactly the Networked Policy Taskgroup does.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="UKOLN-page-body"> <h3 id="The_Work_of_the_Networked_Policy_Taskgroup">The Work of the Networked Policy Taskgroup</h3> <p>For public libraries wishing to provide their users with access to the Internet there are a number of difficult policy decisions that need to be made.
