Four ‘clump’ [1] projects were funded, CAIRNS, M25 Link, and RIDING are regionally based, and Music Libraries Online (MLO) is subject based.

One question that this article aims to answer is ‘Have the clumps projects been a success?’ The following sections highlight some of the many issues that the four projects have looked at and the progress that has been made.

issue26 feature article helena gillis john gilby marian hogg verity brack ahds bldsc british library iso jisc library of congress london school of economics talis university of glasgow university of sheffield agora dner elib jafer aacr2 authentication bath profile bibliographic data bibliographic record browser cataloguing collection description copyright data data set database higher education identifier information retrieval interoperability marc marc21 metadata opac perl php research resource discovery rslp schema search technology software sql standards thesaurus url video vocabularies web browser z39.50 Wed, 10 Jan 2001 00:00:00 +0000 editor 749 at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk E-Commerce in Higher Education: Can We Afford to Do Nothing? http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue26/e-commerce

Andrew Aird on the impact of e-commerce on the non-commercial sector.

<!--

1 Introduction

2 Description

2.1 Overview

2.2 Knowledge Management Processes

2.3 People to People - Knowledge Space (kSpace)

2.3.1 Synchronous / Session based communication

2.3.2 Asynchronous / Thread based communication

2.4 People to Content - Knowledge Base (kBase)
<

issue26 feature article andrew aird amazon goldsmiths college hefce ukoln university of bath university of london verisign authentication browser data database higher education html mac os php portal privacy software standards url video web development Wed, 10 Jan 2001 00:00:00 +0000 editor 750 at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk Web Focus: The Web On Your Phone and TV http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue26/web-focus

Brian Kelly looks at the Web Beyond the PC.

What's the future for Web browsing?
