Kate Robinson

Laurence Lockton

Laurence Lockton has been Systems Librarian at the Library of the University of Bath since 2002. As well as the day-to-day administration of the Symphony library management system, he has been responsible for the implementation of systems for resource discovery and linking, remote access to electronic resources, campus cards and door access control, printing and photocopying, and numerous others. Thom Bunting

Thom Bunting works on project management of JISC Observatory and Innovation Zone activities at the Innovation Support Centre at UKOLN as well as developing and managing ISC online resources. In his Web Manager role, Thom plans and creates data-driven Web sites and looks after existing sites related to UKOLN and some of its previous activities.  Thom’s current interests include: content management technologies supporting consumption and production of dynamic datasets; automated generation of metadata from large collections of content; sharing of content and data across systems; visualisation tools capable of producing interactive, data-rich infographics. These interests build on Thom’s previous experience with leading-edge Web, digital TV, and mobile technology developments, within commercial and academic contexts.

Chris Rusbridge

Chris Rusbridge has been involved in innovation on the fringes of research university libraries for more than 15 years, first as Programme Director for the JISC Electronic Libraries Programme (eLib), and more recently as Director of the Digital Curation Centre (DCC) in the UK. Chris has a particular interest in repositories and research data centres and services, and has expertise in digital preservation and data curation.

Brian Whalley

Brian Whalley has retired from formal education and research in HE but now spends time catching up on previous sins of omission in writing up his glaciology research and contributions to student use of computers in fieldwork. He is a co-investigator on an HEA-funded project on ‘Enhancing Fieldwork Learning’ and is also involved with developing metadata for fieldwork images and data.

Charles Oppenheim

Charles Oppenheim was, until he retired in 2009, Professor of Information Science at Loughborough University, and is currently a Visiting Professor at Queensland University. Previously he held posts in academia and the electronic publishing industry.

Charles has undertaken research in, given talks on, and published widely on all aspects of information law, especially Intellectual Property Rights and licences, and on bibliometrics and research assessment. He is a consultant to a number of private and public sector bodies. He is a member of the UK’s Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance, and of the team that negotiates licences on behalf of the UK higher and further education communities with the Copyright Licensing Agency. He is also a member of the European Commission’s Legal Advisory Board.
