These forms are usually the front ends to <a href="http://www.w3.org/pub/WWW/CGI/">Common Gateway Interface (CGI)</a> programs that implement such things as webopacs, electronic ILL requests and access to backend databases. Often these FORMs have to be authenticated to ensure that only valid library users can make use of the services.
