The RQF is an Australian Federal Government initiative designed to measure the quality and impact of Australian research, and is based partly on the existing Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) held in the UK. The RQF differs from the RAE in its reliance on local institutional repositories for the provision of access to research outputs, and this paper will explain how it is envisaged that this role will be filled, and the challenges that arise from this role.</p> <p><a href="http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue52/groenewegen-treloar" target="_blank">read more</a></p> issue52 feature article andrew treloar david groenewegen dest ims monash university national library of australia wikipedia access control accessibility authentication copyright data digital repositories dissemination dspace eprints fedora commons framework identifier infrastructure institutional repository metadata national library persistent identifier preservation rae repositories research software standards xacml xml Sun, 29 Jul 2007 23:00:00 +0000 editor 1326 at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk Access to Scientific Knowledge for Sustainable Development: Options for Developing Countries http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue52/kirsop-et-al <div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser-article"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><a href="/issue52/kirsop-et-al#author1">Barbara Kirsop</a>, <a href="/issue52/kirsop-et-al#author2">Leslie Chan</a> and <a href="/issue52/kirsop-et-al#author3">Subbiah Arunachalam</a> consider the impact of donor access and open access to research publications on the sustainable development of science in developing countries.</p> </div> </div> </div> <p><a href="http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue52/kirsop-et-al" target="_blank">read more</a></p> issue52 feature article barbara kirsop leslie chan subbiah arunachalam eifl elsevier ept fao google jisc microsoft oai university of southampton wellcome trust agora romeo sherpa accessibility archives authentication data data mining database digital archive digital repositories document management e-science framework free software google scholar infrastructure intellectual property interoperability metadata mobile oai-pmh open access open archives initiative passwords repositories research search technology semantic web software standards tagging Sun, 29 Jul 2007 23:00:00 +0000 editor 1327 at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk The SPP Alerting Portlet: Delivering Personalised Updates http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue52/knight <div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser-article"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><a href="/issue52/knight#author1">Virginia Knight</a> describes the open-source alerting portlet which has been developed as part of the SPP Subject Portals Project (SPP) and the results of user feedback.</p> </div> </div> </div> <p><a href="http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue52/knight" target="_blank">read more</a></p> issue52 feature article virginia knight ilrt oracle university of bristol university of oxford ibvre subject portals project bibliographic data cataloguing data database framework java jena open source portal programming language repositories research resource discovery rss search technology software standards tomcat uportal uri virtual research environment vle wsrp Sun, 29 Jul 2007 23:00:00 +0000 editor 1328 at http://www.ariadne.ac.uk Repository Thrills and Spills http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue52/manuel-oppenheim <div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser-article"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p><a href="/issue52/manuel-oppenheim#author1">Sue Manuel</a> and Charles Oppenheim take a look at recent developments in the digital repositories field and present a light-hearted project narrative.</p> </div> </div> </div> <p>Much can be learned from looking back and reflecting on events in the repository arena over the past few years.
